Room Fit Lab

Measure the usable room

Draw the boundary first

Measure the rectangular area you want to plan and enter width and depth in centimetres. Measure at more than one point when walls are irregular. This tool assumes a rectangle; an alcove or angled wall needs separate consideration and is not automatically represented.

Record the fixed obstacles

Write down doors, windows, radiators, sockets and built-in units before moving furniture. Add a named custom rectangle to reserve space for a door swing or a feature you cannot block. A reserved rectangle is an approximation, so check its position and clearance in the actual room.

Measure the complete piece

Measure the outer footprint, including protruding handles or legs where relevant. The preset sofa, desk and bed are example sizes, not manufacturer dimensions. Replace them with measurements of the furniture you own or a verified product specification.

Include room to use it

A closed drawer occupies less space than an open drawer. A chair needs room to pull back. Walk through these actions on the plan and in the room. No-overlap feedback only means rectangles do not intersect; it is not a certificate that a layout is accessible, safe or comfortable.

Keep a record

Save an editable JSON plan before closing the page. Download the SVG for a scalable drawing or print a copy for notes. The drawing reports room dimensions but the print scale depends on the browser. Do not measure from the printout unless you have independently confirmed its scale.
